Things to do in the Peak District and near Rushop Hall
Whatever the weather or season, there are always plenty of things to see and do around Rushop Hall and in the Peak District. Whether you enjoy walking through river valleys or up to magnificent view points, pottering around antiques shops and picture-perfect villages, or need to entertain children, you will be spoiled for choice. See below for a few of our favourite places to visit.
Chatsworth House
One of the most visited attractions of the peak district, Chatsworth House will fill a full day out with a vast park and estate to explore, as well as cafes, restaurants, gift shops and a number of events throughout the year.
Haddon Hall
Haddon Hall is another historic estate to explore with a calendar full of great events and within easy reach of Rushop Hall.
Walking and cycling
There are a number of great walks and cycle tracks right from Rushop Hall. A short distance from Rushop Hall you find a huge variety of tracking and outings – exploring the Derbyshire Dales, cycling along Monsal Trial, hikes up Kinder Scout from Edale, and taking in the breathtaking viewpoints over Hope Valley from Mam Tor at sunrise. There are plenty of quaint villages and country pubs to explore en route.
Horse riding
You can bring your horse on holiday with you! We can provide stables and grazing for up to five horses and there is a range of rides for all levels from Rushop Hall. Trail rides along the Pennine Bridleway are available.
Local towns
Rushop Hall is very close to Chapel-en-le-Frith, which has a few pubs and all the amenities for stocking up on supplies. A short distance further Buxton awaits with plenty more restaurants, bars, pubs and shops to choose from. The Pavilion Gardens, Devonshire Dome and Buxton Opera House all host regular shows and events that might be of interest.
Historic villages and caves
Dotted throughout the Peak District are a number of historic villages and market towns to explore – the nearby towns of Bakewell, Tideswell, Eyam and Hope are all great for walks, shopping, eating out and seasonal events. The small village of Castleton is also home to a castle and a number of caves – great for wet weather days.
